Nikon TI with PFS and Yokogawa spinning disk confocal, CO2 and heating incubation chamber with humidity, full motorized stage.

Lasers for confocal: 405, 488, 516, and 642nm.

Objectives: 4x/0.2 Plan Apo, 20x/0.75 CFI Plan App VC DIC, 40x/1.3 Plan Fluor DIC oil, 60x/1.4 Plan Apo VC oil, 100x/1.45 CFI Plan App Lambda oil.

Camera is an Andor iXon emCCD.

Equipment requires training and card key access at all times.

Lab rules

All external clients are required to comply with UC Berkeley and Cancer Research Lab visitor codes of conduct and lab rules while on campus.

What It’s Used For

Good for high resolution fluorescence imaging of cellular and intracellular structure and dynamics. Best samples would be cell cultures grown on #1.5 coverslips. We like ibidi dishes, e.g., 35mm dishes. Plastic bottom imaging quality is okay, too.

List of Trainings Required by the Lab

On-Site Training

Training on the instrument with your sample. Typical training time is 1.5 - 2 hours. Users must watch a video tutorial on the software in advance of the training. Training fee for outside users is $600 flat rate.
