FAQs
What kinds of things can you repair?
Just about anything made of borosilicate or quartz. However, if the projected cost of the repair- parts and labor- exceeds 60% of the cost of a new item, I tend to recommend purchasing it new.
How do I drop off my pieces?
The Glass Shop is located at B64 Hildebrand Hall on the UC Berkeley campus. There is a drop in hour every day from 11-noon. If you cannot make the drop in hour, please email laurelrose@berkeley.edu to schedule an appointment to drop off pieces. Please note that all glassware must be CLEAN when dropped off.
Can I ship pieces to you for repair?
Please use the following shipping address:
College of Chemistry Glass Shop
University of California
B84 Hildebrand Hall
Berkeley, CA 94720
Please pack all glass securely to prevent further breakage, and to prevent injury when unpacking. All glass must be CLEAN!
How long are your turnaround times?
Turnaround times vary based on the availability of parts, my current queue, and the complexity of the repair. 3-4 weeks is typical.
Can you make custom pieces?
I do not currently offer custom fabrication through Second Lab, though I may in the future.
Please email laurelrose@berkeley.edu if you have any further questions.
